The city has signed a services agreement with 360 Recycling, LLC., to continue yard waste disposal, Mayor Richard Kos announced on Thursday.
According to the Mayor’s Office, this agreement will allow Chicopee to continue picking up yard waste on a bi-weekly basis. This will cost the city $25 per ton of yard waste collected, and $15 per ton of wood waste delivered to the recycling company’s site in Westfield.
The Chicopee landfill will remain open for residents to drop off services until it’s closure in March.
“Given the closing of the landfill, this contract enables the City to maintain an essential service for our residents after the March closing,” said Mayor Richard J. Kos.
Chicopee residents are still required to pre-register with the DPW by calling (413) 594-3557.
According to the Mayor’s Office, the existing permit system is still in place.
