Hampden County

Family, friends, and colleagues will be saying goodbye to a longtime member of the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department who died earlier this week.

Calling hours for Sergeant Mark Ouimet will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. at St. Cecilia’s Church in Wilbraham. A law enforcement walk-through will start at 5:00 P.M.

Ouimet, who died suddenly on Monday, was most recently the head of the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 Unit. He received many awards and certifications throughout his career. He was also a youth baseball and soccer coach, and volunteered weekly at an animal shelter.

A funeral Mass for Sgt. Ouimet will be held at 10:00 Saturday morning at St. Cecilia’s, followed by burial with full military honors at Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee.
