Springfield’s future chef has been chosen.
National prepared foods provider, Sodexo hosted a cooking competition for elementary school students in Springfield.
Ten 4th and 5th graders cooked up healthy Mexican-inspired recipes. Tuesday night’s winner Janitza Cedeamo said she first became interested in cooking while spending quality time with her mom.
“I’ve been into it for about five years. Because me and my mom, we watch cooking shows together, like mostly on Friday and Saturday Nights,” Janitza told 22News.
The Sodexo Future Chefs Challenge is part of a national initiative to get kids to eat healthier.
Janitza will now advance to regionals.
