Residents from both Springfield and Longmeadow had the opportunity to learn more about the Solarize Mass program Wednesday night.
The first of four information sessions was held at the Indian Orchard Citizen’s Council in Springfield.
The community-based education and outreach program is intended to offer residents preselected solar electricity systems at lower costs.
Small businesses were also invited to meet with representatives from SolarFlair, who is the installer for the Solarize Mass Springfield-Longmeadow program.
Solarize coach Mike Kocsmiersky told 22News, “This provides us a clean, green way to have homegrown energy that keeps our dollars local and builds our financial resiliency.”
The goal of the Solarize Mass Springfield-Longmeadow program is to increase the number of solar electric installations, in an effort to reduce both areas’ reliance on fossil fuels.
