Soldier’s Home holds benefit gala to support veterans

The Soldier’s Home in Holyoke hosted its sixth annual benefit gala Sunday night in Chicopee, calling on community members to support their veterans.

A dinner was held at the Knights of Columbus on Granby Road. The event featured a cash bar, raffles and prizes, and even a Rod Stewart impersonator!

All proceeds from the event will got towards the recreation fund at the Soldier’s Home.

Delfo Barabani Jr, president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #111, told 22News, “You have these people who’ve served and some of them still from World War II there all the way through fairly current individuals. But, it’s a respect that they deserve that we help them.”

Over the years, they’ve also had performances by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin impersonators.

They hope to raise as much as $3,000 by the end of Sunday.
