Last Tuesday, Southwick residents voted to prohibit recreational marijuana sales.

However, that vote was non-binding, which means in order for the ban to take effect, residents need to revote at this Tuesday’s town meeting.

The bylaw will be determined by a voice vote at 7 Tuesday night, inside the Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School Auditorium.

The vote is also open to all residents of the town.

During last week’s vote, more than 450 people said yes to banning recreational pot shop sales in town
and  360 people said no.

The Boston Globe reports that more half of the 351 municipalities across the state have already banned retail marijuana shops or have issued temporary moratoriums and zoning rules.

This bylaw would not affect medical dispensaries within Southwick.
