A woman in Southwick says a sheep was stolen from her own backyard.
Kara Dziengelewski told 22News she traveled to Ohio a month ago and purchased the sheep for hundreds of dollars to show at fairs and to add to her breeding program.
She said the animal was gone and her pen wide open when she returned home from a graduation party over the weekend, and fears the sheep may have been stolen for meat, or to take to market.
“The cops came out yesterday to do a full report. They took pictures of everything, the door completely open that was nailed shut. We installed gates today and we just bought some more cameras that should be here tomorrow to run all of the time, and solar lights too,” said Dziengelewski.
Dziengelewski said she hopes to warn other livestock owners in the area to take extra precautions to protect their animals.
