Speeding cars on Aldenville section of Chicopee still worrying residents

Hampden County

Residents in a Chicopee neighborhood are worried about the risks of speeding cars.

Dallaire Street connects heavily traveled Grattan and Dale Streets in the Aldenville section of Chicopee.

The speed limit is 25 MPH, but residents say most drivers travel down the side street much faster. A neighbor, who declined to go on camera, told 22News, he’s afraid for the safety of his 9-year-old daughter.

“I won’t let her outside by herself because you never know car accidents,” the neighbor said. “People are going by so quickly there are other people on the street with small children. They don’t let them out of their sight.”

Chicopee police confirmed cars should not be exceeding 25 MPH. It’s the law on Massachusetts streets lacking a posted speed limit sign.
