Pasta brought police officers and families together in Springfield Wednesday night.
The White Street School and members of Springfield’s C3 policing unit hosted their annual spaghetti dinner Wednesday night.
More than 50 parents, students, and staff sat down for a meal served by the officers. This is the second year they’ve held this fundraiser, which helps cover the cost of some end-of-the-year student events. And the kids get to know their local officers.
“That’s wonderful,” said Errolique Lord a Springfield parent. “We were just saying that I think it’s great that the cops are here interacting with the kids, showing them that they have nothing to be afraid of. In fact more welcoming, so if anything, they would feel more comfortable going and talking to them.”
Parents told 22News the event was also a good excuse to find the time for a family dinner.
