A church service was held in Springfield Sunday morning to honor and recognize recent graduates.
Celestial Praise Church of God held their “graduation Sunday service” Sunday.
Ten Springfield residents were recognized for their achievements.
Parishioners obtained degrees ranging from high school diplomas to doctorate degrees.
The purpose of the service is to inspire a younger generation of leaders to value and pursue a higher education.
This service is a longstanding church tradition, that has taken place for decades.
It brings inspiration to everyone including seniors, like the 70-year-old Springfield woman who went back to school to receive her certificate in humanities.
22news reporter Tashanea Whitlow served as the motivational speaker for the church service.
