Friday marks the kickoff of Restaurant Week in Springfield. The event was first run four years ago with 12 restaurants.
This year’s event will be celebrated by more than 30 restaurants that span across nine neighborhoods in the city.
“Restaurant week was born out of an effort,” Springfield’s Business Improvement District Director Chris Russell told 22News. “We started talking about it five years ago as reintroducing people to all the diversity we have in cuisine here in Springfield.”
Russell also explained that, during this kickoff week, restaurants will be offering different forms of entertainment and special deals on food and drinks.
“The program itself is focused on dinning, different restaurants will offer entertainment during that timeframe and special promotions,” Russell said.
Restaurant week will run through April 29. You can find a full list of what each restaurant is offering during the event on the Springfield Business Improvement District’s website.
