Springfield firefighter, resident taken to hospital after St. James Ave kitchen fire

A firefighter and resident were taken to the hospital following a kitchen fire on St. James Avenue Monday.

Fire officials told 22News they were called to 748 St. James Ave. around 4 p.m., for a kitchen fire that caused $10,000 in damages.

The firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital for a minor cut to his hand and the resident for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire continues to be investigated by Springfield fire officials.

No further details were provided.
