Springfield firefighters put out fire on Morris St.

Hampden County

Springfield firefighters put out a kitchen fire early Wednesday morning.

According to Springfield Fire Spokesperson Dennis Leger, firefighters were called to 13.5 Morris Street at 6:33 a.m. to find a kitchen fire on the second floor of the residence. 

Leger said the fire was quickly put out and caused under $5,000 in damage.

At this time the residents are able to remain living in their home.

Leger said the fire was an accidental oven fire.
