SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters in Springfield spent hours extinguishing a large scrap metal pile that was burning on Page Boulevard Thursday afternoon.
Captain Brian Tetreault, commander of the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad, told 22News crews were called to 1571 Page Blvd around 3:12 p.m., where they found a large scrap metal pile heavily involved in flames.
Chet’s Auto Wrecking and Scrap Metal is located at that address.
It took Springfield firefighters about two hours to put the fire out due to the size of the pile and limited access. No one was injured.
Captain Tetreault said the cause of the fire has not been determined.
