Update: The area has been cleared and Spencer Street has reopened. The Emergency Crisis Unit was able to get the man out of his home on Tuesday and was taken to Baystate Medical Center for an evaluation. Below is the previous story.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police blocked off Spencer Street Tuesday afternoon as crews work to negotiate with a man threatening to hurt himself.
According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, Emergency Crisis Unit and crisis negotiators are on Spencer Street for a reported man barricaded inside a home threatening to harm himself.
Spencer Street is closed until further notice. 22News will update this article as soon as more information is available.
