Springfield Police are looking to identify a man who they say was the driver of a vehicle that hit a child on Belmont Ave.
Springfield Police spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News the driver did return after hitting the child and stayed for a while as the child waved him off as he tried to speak with him.
Walsh said the man was not there when police arrived because police were not immediately notified of this incident. A 9-1-1 call was later placed.
Walsh said police are looking to speak with and identify the driver. There are no pending charges at this time.
The hit and run happened on May 29th.
