Springfield Rescue Mission provides Thanksgiving meals to less fortunate residents

Hampden County

Volunteers from the Springfield Rescue Mission delivered 166 Thanksgiving dinners to seniors and people with disabilities on the day before Thanksgiving.

Anne Marie Anetzberger-Kroisi has been making these Rescue Mission home deliveries for ten years to people like Donald and Jill Ashey for 10 years.

Ashey told 22News how much she looks forward to Anne-Marie’s arrival.

“I really do, because I know they’re coming with a meal that I don’t have to make, It’s good to have it,” Ashey said.

For volunteers like Anetzberger- Kroisi, doing this good work brings her enormous satisfaction. “I think I benefit probably as much, if not more than, those that I’m delivering the meal to,” she said.

In addition to the meal deliveries, the Rescue Mission provided breakfast and Thanksgiving dinner to hundreds of the homeless and to neighborhood residents on Wednesday.
