Springfield residents celebrated the last day of summer with music and movies under the stars.
The East Forest Park Civic Association, Nathan Bill’s Bar and People’s Bank hosted a “Fall Movie and Safety Night” at Nathan Bill Park Friday night.
The free event provided an opportunity for residents to meet their neighbors as well as local first responders.
State Police, Springfield Police and Springfield Fire and EMTS provided safety demonstrations.
“My father was a police officer for 33 years so anytime you get to see them interacting in a positive way it’s always great. These are the guys that if there’s issues in the neighborhood we want them to help us so it’s great to see them not only in bad times but in good times also.”
Musician Alex Hiller played acoustic guitar at the outdoor event.
“Jumanji” was Friday night’s featured film….the newer one.
