Summer sports enthusiasts couldn’t get fast enough out of the rain Sunday and into the atmosphere more compatible with hunting, fishing and boating.
It’s been like this ever since the 36th annual Springfield Sportsmen’s Show began on Friday.
Many sportsmen attended with their sons or grandsons. “The Sportsmen’s Show represents one of the great family activities. Father and son, grandfather, son, father daughter,” John O’Neill of Feeding Hills told 22News. “Gives them the love of fishing, loving the outdoors, one of the few things that’s free, take through your whole life.”
This weekend’s Springfield Sportsmen’s Show provided a lure for everyone who can see several months into the future when they’ll spend their days enjoying outdoor recreation.
Visitors came from all over New England to feel the sense that winter can’t last forever. Steven Olari of Connecticut praised the event, “It’s a great time, a great time, you meet people, meet the vendors, it’s all good.”
Many visitors didn’t leave until they purchased just the right rod and reel or perhaps a boat to take them on a leisurely spin on one of western Massachusetts many waterways.
