Springfield teachers receive Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A tribute to Teachers in Springfield Thursday night.

The Springfield School Committee commended 27 teachers who’ve been selected for the 2019 Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching awards.

The teachers were recognized for their student impact, subject knowledge, and creativity.

They’ll be honored at the Excellence in Teaching awards banquet next week. Central High School fine arts teacher Christie Chisholm was one of the award winners Thursday night.

She’s been teaching in Springfield for more than ten years.

The School committee also recognized two schools for their outstanding academic achievement, Lincoln Elementary School and the Sumner Avenue School.
