Square One receives hundreds of winter coats for children

Hampden County

New winter coats were donated on Tuesday for hundreds of Springfield children in need.

The certified public accounting firm Burkhart Pizzanelli of West Springfield purchased and delivered 250 winter coats for the Children at the Square One preschool daycare in Springfield.

“Many of them are struggling financially,” Kristine Allard explained. “And there’s not enough to go around sometimes.”

Julie Quink told 22News that Burkhart Pizzanelli “came up with the idea that coats would be a way for us to give back. We strongly believe that every child deserves a warm coat.”

Burkhart Pizzanelli purchased and donated the children’s coats as part of a national program known as “Operation Warm.”
