Stafford Road in Monson reopened following train fire

MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) – Fire officials temporarily closed Stafford Road in Monson while they worked to put out a train fire Tuesday afternoon.

The fire department posted a picture to their Facebook page around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon of a train near Stafford Road with heavy smoke coming from the front.

Firefighters from Stafford, Connecticut assisted Monson crews with mutual aid. Drivers were asked to avoid the road, which reopened to traffic shortly after 7 p.m.
