Starbucks closes stores for mandatory anti-bias training

Hampden County

About 8,000 company-owned Starbucks locations shut down Tuesday to give 175,000 employees a mandatory anti-bias training.

The training is designed to focus on understanding prejudice, promote inclusion, and explore the history of discrimination in America.

The training was scheduled after the arrest of two black men inside a Philadelphia Starbucks back in April.

“I think it’s a great idea because I believe that this country has gone to the dogs as far as taking care of minorities,” Mary-Ellen Cowles of Chicopee told 22News.

The training lasted around three to four hours.
