State Police: 52-year-old Warren woman killed in crash on I-90E in Palmer

PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) –  Police have confirmed the two-vehicle accident on I-90 East in Palmer Thursday afternoon as deadly.

According to Massachusetts State Police a 52-year-old Warren woman suffered serious injuries from the crash that took place around 1:10 p.m.

State Police said the Warren woman was traveling on Route 90 eastbound in Palmer. Police say she was driving at a high speed when she entered a breakdown lane, striking the guardrail.

State Police say her vehicle then bounced off the guardrail into the side of a tractor trailer. The unidentified woman was then ejected out of the vehicle which had rolled over.

Troopers from the Charlton State Police Barracks responded to the accident and assisted in transporting the woman to Wing Hospital by ambulance. She was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the tractor trailer suffered no injuries in the crash, police say. The crash happened at the 61.6 mile marker near the Calkins Road overpass.

Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes as two travel lanes were closed for more than six hours.

The crash remains under investigation by State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and troopers assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
