TD Bank and ReGreen Springfield join forces to plant trees for better air quality

ReGreen Springfield teamed up with TD Bank to plant trees in Springfield.

ReGreen Springfield joined together with TD Bank to plant 45 new trees on and around Edgewood Street in the Bay neighborhood.

The event, called TD Tree Days, will bring together more than 1,000 community members and TD employees in September and October to plant 850 trees and shrubs in 19 communities all the way from Maine to Florida.

The trees create shade on local homes which helps save on energy costs. And there’s another surprising benefit: improving mental health.

David Bloniarz, the vice president of ReGreen Springfield, told 22News, “If you come back in two years you’re going to see a lot happier people, that are less stressed, that have lower blood pressure, and have less mental issues such as depression and anxiety. It’s been proven.”

Planting trees also produces more oxygen, lessens pollution particles, and reduces carbon emissions.

And Springfield is just one part of a big goal, TD bank pledges to plant one million trees in North America by 2030.
