The Market at Gray House celebrates culture through fundraising event

Hampden County

A celebration of culture in Chicopee Wednesday night, all for a good cause.

The Gray House hosted its second annual International Tasting Event at the Munich Haus. The fundraiser is part of the organization’s September “Fill the Plate, Feed a Family Challenge,” an initiative to put nutritious food on the tables of families in need.

The Gray House, which recently became “The Market at Gray House,” told 22News why they decided to change the name.

Executive director Teresa Liberti told 22News, “We also want to make sure that they feel welcome and have an easier time making that first step of coming to receive food assistance so by changing the name we’re hoping to reduce the stigma around food assistance and make people feel more comfortable.”

Food insecurity is an issue that over 230,000 people in western Massachusetts face.
