There’s still time to drop off a new unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots

We so appreciate the generosity you have shown and our lobby continues to fill up once again this year.

22News has teamed up with the U.S. Marine Corps for our annual Toys for Tots Campaign. For almost 20 years now you’ve been filling up the lobby at 22News.

On Thursday, we received many generous donations including a big one from the Operating Engineers Local 98 of East Longmeadow.

“Each year we do a family picnic in the summer and the proceeds from that family picnic we go out and buy toys and we bring them down and this year we’re proud to be here with $3000 worth of toy donations,” said Philip Chaffee.

They dropped off five car loads of toys and bikes.

Donations continue to come in from so many of our viewers.

“I mowed lawns and did leaves and shoveled a little bit of driveways to get the money because it’s a nice thing to do,” said Jaden Lage of East Longmeadow.

When asked why he donates, Henry Lemay of Southampton told 22News, “Because we love kids we have great grand kids and we don’t want anybody to be without.”

All the toys that are collected will be given to children right here in western Massachusetts.

You still have three days to donate:

  • 12/7: 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
  • 12/8-12/9: 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • 12/10: 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
