Thomas J O’Connor Animal Control looking to identify owner of abandoned, starved dogs

Hampden County

Thomas J O’Connor Animal Control is looking for your help finding whoever abandoned three starving dogs.

Meet “Dexter” and “Pebbles,” they were found roaming Verge Street in Wilbraham on April 15. The person who found them found also found another smaller dog that was unable to move.

TJO Executive Director Pam Peebles told 22News the dogs appeared to have been starved, and the smaller dog is in critical condition.

“Animals that are abandoned and left in a city environment, there’s a lot of food sources and unless they’re in confinement by people, they are not going to get to the point of starvation that these dogs were in,” said Peebles. “One of them was near death.”

“Dexter” and “Pebbles” are at TJO in Springfield. They’ve already gained weight and should be available for adoption in two weeks.

The small dog’s conditions is more severe, she’s in the care of a local veterinarian. They hope to be able to find her a new home in about a month.
