Town officials to identify 2 dogs responsible for allegedly wounding another

Hampden County

Hampden Town officials are still trying to identify two dogs that attacked and wounded a dog that was on a hiking trail in the fall.

Wilbraham resident Lee Ann Gale said her dog Jake was attacked by two unleashed dogs while she was hiking in Hampden on September 30.

The vet bills were nearly $3,000.

The Hampden Board of Selectmen addressed the incident at a meeting Monday night.

Gale believes the dogs are from Hampden and is seeking reimbursement for Jake’s vet bills.

“You know, I hope they will be cooperative,” said Jake’s owners. “I really do. It’s for the safety of both towns,  these dogs are very dangerous.”

The Selectboard wants to get a warrant so they can legally enter the home of the family believed to own the dogs that attacked Jake.
