The traditional Bishop’s Mass was celebrated Saturday night ahead of Sunday’s Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade.
The annual Mass was held at St. Jerome’s Church in Holyoke. Bishop Mitchell Rozanski began the Mass by honoring Saint Patrick saying, he was an “example of faith and an example of being able to overcome any adversity.”
Rozanksi told 22News, the Mass reflects on the Irish heritage and on the life of Saint Patrick.
“His life embodies everything. It embodies forgiveness, he embodies love and it embodies being able to witness to God’s goodness in the world,” Rozanksi said. “And I think that’s why Saint Patrick universally has such an appeal to everyone.”
Rozanski told 22News, it’s been a joy to celebrate with all of the parade committee and all of those who came to the Mass.
Rozanski will be marching in Sunday’s parade.
