In exactly one week, you’ll be able to go inside MGM Springfield’s new casino.
MGM Springfield will finally open its doors to the public next Friday. They’re warning of traffic delays in and around Springfield.
Drivers coming from the East, can get off the Mass Pike at exit six, and to I-291 to 91 South. Connecticut drivers can either take I-91 North to Exit 5 or ride the new CT Rail line to Springfield.
“I’m kind of curious what will take place so I decided to take a dry run today I took the train and walked down to the casino after I got dropped off at the station, probably a 10-minute walk and it was very easy,” said Kevin Dosilva of Meriden, CT.
Finding a parking space won’t be easy on opening day, even with the 3,400 space parking garage.
MGM is encouraging you to park for free at The Big E and ride the shuttle to the casino.
You’ll be able to access this free express shuttle after you park at Gate 9 at The Big E fairgrounds. The shuttle will run every 5 to 10 minutes starting at 6 Friday morning.
“We’ve been working with MGM for quite some time preparing for opening day,” said Gerard Kiernan. “Here at the exposition, we have a large parking facility and our staff and parkers here on the grounds. We are experts at parking and it’s going to work out quite well.”
MGM said visitors can also take the new public transportation service, “The Loop,” from Union Station to the casino.
MGM Springfield’s casino opens Friday morning at 11.
