The owner of a western Massachusetts tree care service has described the damage from Monday’s wind storm as the worst they’ve seen since the snowstorm of October 2011.
Like so many tree services throughout the area, Great Tree Service in Westfield stayed busy repairing the damage from Monday’s storm.
As owner Nick Orluk and his crew were removing a tree limb from a garage in Holyoke, he said the softwood trees are especially vulnerable to the wind in cold weather.
“A lot of pine trees break off. They’re frozen, they break off even if they’re healthy,” Orluk explained. “With a wind like this where they’re frozen, they just snap.”
Numerous tree repair services contacted by 22News reported their crews being very busy on Tuesday, removing trees and tree limbs from roofs and houses damaged during the wind storm.
