Two pitbulls found in same Springfield area with several bite marks and cuts

Hampden County

T.J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center is now caring for two different pitbulls brought in within the last 24 hours, both with several bite marks and cuts on them.

They were brought in on separate occasions, both found in the area of Newbury, Carew and Santa Barbera Streets in Springfield.

Because they were found in similar areas with similar wounds, T.J. O’Connor Animal Control Supervisor Hannah Orenstein told 22News there may be a larger problem here.

“We’re concerned that there’s potential dog fighting going on, it’s awfully coincidental that two dogs with two similar body conditions with very recent bite wounds were found in such close proximity in such a short amount of time,” Orenstein said.

If you recognize these dogs or have any information about possible dog fighting happening in that area you’re asked to call T.J. O’Connor at 413-781-1484.
