A Vietnam veteran and graduate of Chicopee High School was honored at the school on Friday.
Corporal Edward Stefanik’s name was added to a plaque at Chicopee H.S. that honors students who have paid the ultimate price.
Corporal Stefanik was killed at the age of 23 when his helicopter was shot down. His life long friend Dennis Boulerice noticed he was not put on the honor plaque last year.
“The second I saw his name wasn’t there, I walked into the office and to push to get the respect that he’s earned,” said Boulerice of Chicopee.
During Friday’s ceremony at the high school, Corporal Stefanik’s contributions to his country became a permanent fixture at there, where he graduated more than 50-years-ago.
