Volleyball sculptures displayed throughout Holyoke as part of public art project

Hampden County

You may have noticed some new volleyball sculptures dotting the streets of Holyoke.

“Have a Ball in Holyoke” is a public art project. They assigned different artists to paint fiberglass volleyballs.

Businesses purchase the distinctly decorated volleyballs which are displayed throughout the city.

The balls started being installed this summer, with a total of 20 set to dot the city.

“Real nice, I’ve seen one over there by the Hyundai dealership,” said Marcus Percy of Holyoke. “I think the artist took a really good time on there. these streets could definitely use some brightening up, and these volleyballs definitely do the trick.”

The volleyballs are 4 feet in diameter, and are showcased at many of the entrances to the city.
