Sunday is Veterans Day and communities across Western Massachusetts will be honoring our Veterans.
This year marks a special Veteran’s Day celebration. Sunday a remembrance bell will be rung at the town common in West Springfield 21 times to honor the WWI centennial armistice.
Each year, Veterans Day commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended WWI hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918.
This year is the 100th anniversary.
The Veterans Day celebration continues in West Springfield a day after the town had it’s our annual parade Saturday.
The west Springfield Lions Club planted 650 flags on the town green in observation of Veterans Day.
The bell ringing starts Sunday at 11 a.m.
