WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A West Springfield High School coach was killed in a shooting in Connecticut over the weekend.
West Springfield Superintendent of Schools Michael Richard confirmed to 22News that 34-year-old Kevin Campbell served as the JV basketball coach at the high school.
“Mr. Campbell served well in this capacity and earned the respect of his student-athletes, coaches, administration, and opponents,” Richard said. “During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin’s family.”
22News sister station WTNH reports that Campbell, of Windsor, and another man, 28-year-old Joshua Steele, were shot and killed in Hartford early Sunday morning. Police are continuing to look into what led up to the deadly shooting.
