WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The West Springfield Police Department is answering the call again this year to help collect toys for children this holiday season.

The Operation Santa Program distributes food baskets and toys to families in need from West Springfield. Thursday night, the department was outside Town Hall collecting toys for children as part of the town’s 34th Annual Caroling Sing-A-Long and Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Paul Connor, the Chief of the West Springfield Police Department said, “I’m very proud to be part of the West Springfield community. We have officers volunteering there time here. We are stuffing the cruiser for the less fortunate and it’s a great way to kick off the season.”

They are currently in need of toys for boys and girls from infants to 15 years old. All donations must be unwrapped. Toys can be dropped off at the West Springfield Park and Recreation Department, West Springfield Police Department, or the West Springfield Mayor’s Office.

The Police Department will have vehicles ready for donations on the following days:

  • December 2nd: Irish Cultural Center on Morgan Rd from 5pm-7pm
  • December 3rd: West Springfield Town Hall from 11am-1pm
  • December 7th: Two Weeks Notice Brewing from 5pm-8pm
