West Springfield police, fire department wives compete in celebrity bartending competition

Hampden County

A battle of the badges with a twist in West Springfield Thursday night.

West Springfield Police Department wives competed against West Springfield Fire Department wives in a celebrity bartending competition at the Irish Cultural Center of New England’s Trinity Pub.

All proceeds from Thursday’s event will go Springfield’s Ride to Remember, a 100-mile bike ride from Springfield to Boston that supports the Massachusetts Fallen Police and Firefighter memorials.

“We come together to raise money and awareness and to support police officers not just in our city but in cities near and far in Massachusetts,” said Danielle Polastry, West Springfield police wife.

Many of the wives who participated in Thursday night’s fundraiser have husbands who are participating in this year’s ride.

The 6th annual Ride to Remember will take place on September 8.
