It’s become apparent that more people in western Massachusetts are leading healthier lives, enabling them to live beyond their 100th birthday and beyond.
A 100th birthday celebration was held on Monday at the West Springfield Senior Center for Hilda Breveleri.
Born in Canada, Hilda came to West Springfield with her family at the age of 15, where she raised three children. She’s proud to have spent her many retirement years delivering meals on wheels to other seniors in town.
She told 22News what she credits her longevity too. “I’d say that they eat healthier, there’s more available to them.”
The West Springfield Senior Center Director, Laurie Cassidy, said that socializing with people their own age has improved the quality of life for many seniors.
