A Westfield police officer was injured, after being struck by a car while directing traffic.
Westfield Police Capt. Michael McCabe told 22News that the officer was directing traffic following an accident on Union Street, when he was struck by a vehicle not involved in the crash just before 8:00 Thursday morning.
The officer, who suffered a leg injury, was taken to Baystate Noble Hospital, but has since been released. There is no word at this time whether there will be any citations against the driver of the vehicle that struck him.
