Students at Westfield State are kicking off a new semester with community service.

According to a news release sent to 22News, more than 150 students will help beautify the city of Westfield by providing community service at 25 local businesses and organizations.

From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. students will paint, garden, clean, and perform other tasks inside and outside various locations.

The day, known as HOOT or Helping Out Our Town Day, is an annual event students participate in. This is the ninth year the event will take place.
