Westfield State University students helped honor the memory of a beloved professor in the communication department Friday.
Students were among the dozens of golfers at Westfield’s Tekoa Country Club.
They had come to raise money to benefit the journalism scholarship fund in the name of Professor Henry Wefing.
This was the third annual memorial golf classic honoring Professor Wefing’s memory.
“He left quite a legacy when he passed away in 2015,” said Suzanne Boniface, Westfield State University professor. “He was all about ethical journalism. His teaching students the right way to do things and encouraging them to go out into journalism. It’s such a wonderful field to be in today.”
The memorial golf tournament is expected to raise $5,000 for the journalism scholarships to be awarded in the spring.
