International Dignitaries are touching down at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee this week.
Senior Master Sergeant Andrew Bisoce told 22News Westover Air Reserve Base is providing support for the United Nations, shuttling United Nations diplomats to New York City.
Westover has the longest runways in New England. And the military base offers the secure protection for the dignitaries’ airplanes.
This week, aircraft from Iran, Vietnam, and Mexico have all traveled through western Massachusetts on their way to the United Nations conference in New York City.
This is nothing new. The base and their civilian partners, at Westover Metropolitan Airport, have hosted the aircraft of the United Nations for years. And it’s a partnership that works.
Senior Master Sergeant Biscoe told 22News the base has hosted the planes of UN diplomats for more than a decade.
Westover is often where Air Force One parks, when a sitting U.S. President is in New York City. And while President Trump has been in New York the last two days, we did not see Air Force one.
