What you need to know about holiday returns

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Now that you have opened all of your Christmas presents, there is a good chance that you will be making some returns.

Some people shopping at Kohl’s in West Springfield told 22news they got two of the same gift, or simply wanted something different.

Starting at 7 Monday morning, customers had already lined up to return their presents.

The day after Christmas is usually busy at Kohl’s.

“For returns I think it’s a little bit crazy because we have a very lienient return policy, so you have until whenever to return anything”, says Heather Orlowski, a store associate.

With different stores having different return policies, consumer experts say the sooner you return, the better, especially if you don’t have a receipt.

Some stores will still let you return your item, but will only give you a gift card or store credit worth the item’s current price.

Today isn’t just about returning the gifts that you don’t want.

Some people say it’s about getting a jump start on your Christmas shopping for next year and making more holiday traditions.

“We’re cousins and we go the day after Christmas shopping to get all the bargains”, says Janet Seredejko and Linda Tyler, both of Greenfield.

I used to come with my mom but she passed away so I kind of carry on the tradition”, says Nancy Kingsbury of West Springfield.
