In just four months you’ll finally get a chance to explore the new MGM Springfield casino.
Sevan Garabettian from Vernon, Conn. told 22News, “I’m really looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be a huge success for the city!”
The nearly three years, a $960 million dollar construction project will come to a halt on August 24th and you’ll have your choice of dining, entertainment, gaming and shopping.
Many people downtown on Thursday told 22News they’re looking forward to this change.
“My wife and I like to go out, we go to the casinos in Connecticut so for us it will be a shorter trip! Absolutely, we’ll definitely come check it out,” said Garabettian.
22News found out what’s next for the casino as their big day approaches.
MGM Springfield Director of Marking and Communications Saverio Mancini said they’ll now be working to fill more than 2,300 jobs.
In May, the casino plans to hold two mass hiring events and those who attend the event will walk away with jobs.
Mancini told 22News the event will be invite only for applicants and that an additional hiring event will take place in June. Currently he said gaming tables are being installed and equipment and furnishing are being delivered.
