SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A woman and her two-year-old child had to be freed from their car by Springfield firefighters following a two-car accident on Carew Street Thursday morning.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News the child was treated at the crash site and released to her father. The mother was taken to Baystate Medical Center, but is expected to be okay. Walsh said the woman was cited with a marked lanes violation.
