SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The third-annual “Wine Safari” was held Thursday night to benefit Springfield’s Zoo in Forest Park.
Hundreds of people enjoyed spending time with the animals, all while tasting a variety of wines.
Eight wine-tasting stations were set up throughout the new Valley Venture Mentors Space in downtown Springfield.
Each wine-tasting station represented a different region of the world. Paired with each station was an animal indigenous to that region. The executive director of the zoo said events like these help the non-profit raise money to care for the animals.
Sarah Tsitso told 22News, “So everyone here tonight that came out in support of the zoo is doing something really special for our animals.”
Tsitso said raising money for the organization helps them provide veterinary care, heat, and food for the animals year round.
