The Annual Eastern Region Ski Tournament took place in Northampton this weekend.
The Oxbow Water Ski Show team took advantage of a beautiful Sunday morning to wrap up their 34th annual Eastern Regional Show Tournament.
Six teams from throughout the northeast competed at The Oxbow all weekend long. Sunday’s event had competitions that featured all types of skiing, dancing and comedy.
Each team put on a one hour show judged on execution Flow, Difficulty, and Spectator Appeal.
Brianna Benjamin, the show director, told 22News about the kind of shows that are put on, “The types of shows we do, you don’t see them very often.”
He continued to say, “We do things that a lot of people don’t know exist. It can be dangerous so not many people know how to do it. We have special people who are trained to do these things.”
Cam McNeill, one of the founders of the Oxbow Ski Show team told 22News that show skiing is a sport that gets the whole family involved, “We have moms and dads either skiing with their sons and daughters, or dad drives the boat and the kids ski. It’s the only sport i know where the whole family can compete together”
Becci Ellis, the President of Eastern Region added, “My sister, my husband, my parents are all part of this team along with my new brother in-law so it’s a big family event.”
Teams with the top scores will qualify for the national competition that is set to take place in August.
The Oxbow jump team came in first in the jump event, and the team came in first for over all show.
