At least three people were injured after a possible explosion on Dunham Avenue in Ware Tuesday evening.

Ware Police initially told 22News three people were reported injured, but the town’s Deputy Fire Chief, Ed Wloch, confirmed that four people were hurt in a fire that happened in the driveway of 8 Dunham Ave. around 9 p.m.

Two people were airlifted to a Boston hospital, another was transferred by ground and the fourth person was released with minor injuries after being treated at Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center.

Spokeswoman of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Jennifer Mieth, told 22News an investigator was sent to the area to investigate and that there are reports of several injuries.

Mieth said early reports indicated that the incident could be similar to what happened in West Springfield early Tuesday evening. “Someone adding a flammable liquid to a fire pit,” she added.

A State Police investigator has also been called in to assess the situation and determine how the incident happened.

22News will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as more details develop.
